Nguu Tu Pagoda organizes Vu Lan festival to show gratitude to parents
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 29, the 16th day of the 7th lunar month, at Nguu Tu Pagoda (Thanh Chuong), a grand Vu Lan ceremony was held to show gratitude to parents, Buddhist calendar 2559, to cast a Bodhisattva statue and break ground for the construction of the main hall.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province, representatives of the Department of Home Affairs, District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee and departments and branches of Thanh Chuong district, representatives of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee of Dung town, Thanh Dong commune, businesses, and a large number of Buddhist monks and nuns inside and outside the province.

Vu Lan Festival aims to offer alms to the deceased, repay the ancestors' kindness, express the filial piety of Buddhists to the great merits of their parents in the spirit of "Gratitude and Repayment", which is a beautiful feature in the traditional culture of our nation.

In the solemn and respectful atmosphere of the ceremony, monks and Buddhists solemnly performed the rituals of offering flowers, welcoming the ancestral tablets of martyrs and ancestors, offering robes to venerable monks, offering gifts to living parents, listening to the teachings of the abbot, chanting Vu Lan sutra to show filial piety, especially the ritual of pinning roses on the chest - expressing the sacred and noble feelings of each person towards their parents.
After Vu Lan ceremony, monks, delegates at all levels, and Buddhists held the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the main hall of Nguu Tu pagoda and the bronze pouring ceremony for casting the Bodhisattva statue.
