According to a study in Australia, pears may help drinkers prevent alcohol-related symptoms the following day.

According to Horticulture Innovation Australia, pears offer numerous health benefits, including lowering blood cholesterol, relieving constipation, and having anti-inflammatory properties.

More recently, scientists also published the benefits of pears for drinkers in a study in July 2015. People who drank about 220ml of pear juice before drinking alcohol experienced a 16-21% reduction in alcohol-related symptoms.

Pears and some other fruits like apples, bananas, and tomatoes can help reduce symptoms caused by alcohol.

Manny Noakes, the lead researcher and director of nutrition and health research at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, said that the severity of alcohol-related symptoms was significantly reduced in the group that drank pear juice.

Drinking a glass of pear juice or eating fresh pears can help reduce symptoms caused by alcohol. However, remember that they are only effective if consumed before drinking alcohol. This benefit comes from the fact that pears are metabolized in the body and counteract the negative effects of alcohol.

Alcohol causes a range of adverse changes in the body. It can trigger an inflammatory response in the immune system and lower blood sugar levels, leading to symptoms such as decreased concentration, poor memory, loss of appetite, and fatigue. Alcohol also causes the stomach to produce more acid, leading to abdominal discomfort, nausea, and vomiting.

Besides pears, there are several other fruits that can also help relieve hangovers, such as:

Tomato:Tomato juice is rich in vitamin C, which helps the body recover quickly. Additionally, tomatoes contain a high amount of glucathione, a substance the body produces to combat toxins from alcohol metabolism.

Banana:When you drink a lot of alcohol, your body loses more water and potassium, making you prone to muscle weakness, cramps, and vomiting. Therefore, bananas are very helpful in this situation because they are high in potassium, which helps reduce symptoms caused by low potassium levels.

Apple:With their high content of antioxidants, sugars, and magnesium, apples also help promote and support the body's natural detoxification process.
