In October alone, car sales reached the highest level since the beginning of the year. |
According to statistics from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), in October, total car sales in the market reached 22,368 units, one and a half times higher than the same period in 2014 and the highest level since the beginning of the year.
On average, each day of the month, car companies sell nearly 720 cars, about 100 cars higher than the annual average.
In the first 10 months, total market sales reached 185,811 vehicles, up 53% over the same period and exceeding the consumption of the whole last year (reaching 157,810 vehicles). In particular, the strongest increase was in specialized vehicles, followed by commercial vehicles and passenger cars. Domestically assembled vehicles still dominate in terms of output, but the growth rate mainly comes from imported vehicles, in the context of reduced tax lines in the region.
Recently, according to the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), cars and some types of auto parts and tires will have their tax reduced to 0% within 10 years, which means that the prices of cars imported from the US and Japan are likely to change in the future.
In terms of market share, Truong Hai (Thaco) still holds the top position with 7,282 vehicles sold in the month, accounting for 38% of total market sales. Toyota Vietnam ranks second with 4,372 vehicles sold, accounting for nearly 23%; Ford Vietnam accounts for 11%, followed by Honda and GM Vietnam.
