The National Costume that Thuy Van will wear at Miss International 2015
Thuy Van's national costume was made more than 3 months ago by designers Huynh Hai Long and Dang The Huy. Designer Huynh Hai Long was the Champion of the Vietnam Collection Grand Prix competition in 2009. This is one of the largest and most prestigious fashion design competitions in Vietnam. He has the strength of designing national-inspired costumes with a deep understanding of Vietnamese culture and Asian countries.
The costume is inspired by the humane and profound meaning of traditional Vietnamese culture. Therefore, the costume with silk and brocade material has the main color of bronze - the color of luxury, royalty but no less sophisticated. However, to avoid boredom and monotony, bronze will be used with many shades of light and dark to create a beautiful effect.
The overall outfit is an ao dai but uses completely hand embroidery techniques, modern skirt cutting and vest techniques to highlight the curves and bring modernity to the outfit. The beautiful embroidery lines had to use nearly 1000 strands of Koma Japan thread to make. In particular, the image of a large and nearly 1m2 long dragon was meticulously embroidered to create a 3D effect on the surface of the outfit.
In addition, wavy cloud patterns are created to make the dragon pattern stand out more. The image of the dragon is also one of the mascots that Vietnamese people worship.

The costume was designed by designers Huynh Hai Long and Dang The Huy.
To reduce the clutter, designer Hai Long limited the use of accessories other than the silk "tray", adding embroidered and crystal hairpins to create a light and delicate overall look for this design.
The designers said that the costume took up to two months to make and went through many difficult stages. The most time-consuming and labor-intensive part was the embroidery and the attachment of nearly 2,000 crystals. This is the part that creates the beautiful, sparkling image and effect when performed on stage.
Through this costume, Thuy Van and the entire crew hope to send a message to international friends: Vietnamese youth always love and cherish traditional values.
On November 4, 2015, the crew will announce the official evening gown images of Thuy Van at Miss International 2015. The final night of the contest will take place on November 5.
