The ringleader of this gambling operation is Tran Minh Tuan (22 years old, residing in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City). Tuan confessed that two months ago, a man named Ba (whose identity is unknown) gave him the website bong88.com and an account with 4,000 points (equivalent to 80 million VND).

Every day, gamblers would come to Thanh Trung coffee shop (in Binh Dang residential area, Ward 6, District 8) to meet Tuan to inquire about odds and place bets.

Then, Tuan would create a list and upload it online to earn a commission. Every 2-3 days, a man named Ba would come to the coffee shop to calculate and settle the winnings and losses, as well as pay Tuan his commission.

At 11:25 PM on December 12th, while Tuan was organizing gambling activities involving a series of English Premier League matches, detectives from Team 5 – PC45 raided the premises and caught him red-handed.

The police seized over 90 million VND, 15 motorbikes, 26 mobile phones, 2 televisions, laptops, 4 betting slips, etc.

PC45 has now handed over the suspects and related evidence to the District 8 Police for investigation according to their jurisdiction.
