"Memories of Hanoi" tourism product: Promises many interesting things

From December 30, 2015 to January 4, 2016, at Thang Long Imperial Citadel - Hanoi, Hanoi Department of Tourism, Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center and DC Media Joint Stock Company coordinated to implement the program "Memories of Hanoi" to introduce the profound cultural features of Hanoi to the people of the capital, domestic and international tourists.

"Memories of Hanoi" is an attractive and practical cultural tourism event to celebrate the success of the 16th Hanoi Party Congress, towards the 12th National Party Congress and welcome the new year 2016. This is also a space for the older generations to remember a distant memory, the younger generation to learn and experience a charming Hanoi, a destination for domestic and international tourists to visit, enjoy, and explore the quintessence of the land and soul of Hanoi people preserved for generations in the transition moment from the old year 2015 to the new year 2016.

Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Do Dinh Hong said that the purpose of the program organizers when organizing the event at this time is to let Hanoians and tourists feel the soul of ancient Hanoi and together send a message, together entering the new year with a spirit of working and studying more enthusiastically and effectively.

"Memories of Hanoi" was carefully prepared for about 3 months. The program took place over 5 days at the World Cultural Heritage Site - Thang Long Imperial Citadel Center. According to the Organizing Committee, this activity took place at an important cultural heritage of the Capital and therefore, the organization plan was carefully calculated to ensure the integrity of the relic. "If the number of visitors is too large and the plan to ensure order and safety is not good, it is very likely to have an adverse impact on the relic. Thang Long Imperial Citadel is a world heritage, we must all comply with the general regulations when coming here to enjoy it", said Mr. Do Dinh Hong.

There will be 130 volunteers - who have been trained in tour guide skills and can speak English - participating in the tour guide and consultation activities for tourists. The organizers have also calculated the number of visitors who will come here to have a suitable solution, for example, if there are too many visitors, they can ask visitors to wait a few minutes. At the venue of the program, there will be staff from Thang Long Imperial Citadel regularly cleaning. The representative of Dien Bien Ward People's Committee (Ba Dinh District), the unit assigned to take charge of vehicle parking, also pledged to minimize the collection of illegal vehicle tickets.

"Memories of Hanoi" includes 4 major activities: Exhibition and installation art, fine art decoration, cultural and artistic program and organization to welcome the first international tourist to Hanoi in 2016. The highlight is the installation art exhibition with 11 contents, in which, "Memories of Old Hanoi" introduces a collection of images about culture, relics - famous landscapes, images of old Hanoi streets, images of craft villages, craft streets, daily life and unique traditional culture of Hanoi with thousands of years of civilization. With the content of "Hanoi Old Quarter", the highlight is the scenery of the old quarter with street names starting with the word "Hang" such as Hang Dao, Hang Gai, Hang Dong... The beauty of old Hanoi streets appears before the eyes of visitors through the operations of artisans of the craft streets, roadside tea shops, flower stalls, the clacking sound of scissors coming from barbers on street corners...

"Memories of Hanoi" is certainly an attractive and diverse program about the capital, its history and cultural traditions. Visitors can find here models of old means of transport such as rickshaws, trams, and cyclos - the "soul" of Hanoi's streets in the past, still deeply imprinted in the memories of the elderly. The Hanoi Antique Market will introduce old items, "pieces of memories" about a Hanoi that seems to have gone into the past, which can only be seen through museums. In particular, the Hanoi culinary space will simulate the "beer trade style", promising to bring visitors interesting feelings.

Not only for adults, "Memories of Hanoi" also has a space for children with the opportunity to participate in folk games such as volleyball, tortoise-leech release, mandarin square, marbles... and learn how to make grasshoppers, bamboo dragonflies, and clay figurines... In addition, in order to promote and introduce to international tourists a friendly, enthusiastic, hospitable and thoughtful Hanoi, the Department of Tourism will coordinate with Vietnam Airlines Corporation to welcome the first international tourist to Hanoi in 2016 at Noi Bai International Airport and bring them to Thang Long Imperial Citadel to attend the program.
