(Baonghean) - Discussion by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh - Deputy Head of the Department of Disease Control and Prevention of HIV/AIDS, Tan Ky District Medical Center; candidate for the 14th National Assembly.

PV:This is the first time you have been nominated as a candidate for the National Assembly; what are your thoughts and feelings?

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh:In the last term, I was elected to the 17th Tan Ky District People's Council. As a representative of the District People's Council, I have always been aware of my role and fulfilled my responsibility as a representative of the will and aspirations of voters, fully reflecting and making suggestions to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the people. Now being nominated to run for the 14th National Assembly, besides the great honor, I realize that it is also a great responsibility for me. If elected, I will work with the National Assembly to solve the pressing issues and difficulties that the country and locality are facing, so I must further improve my knowledge, ethics, and personality, promote my intelligence and enthusiasm to contribute more.

PV:Can you share the top priorities in your action program if elected to the 14th National Assembly?

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh:If I receive the trust of voters, when I become a member of the 14th National Assembly, as a candidate for the health sector, I will actively research, contribute opinions on medical ethics, actively promote and raise public awareness of health work; improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, the quality of staff, mobilize socialization, solve the problem of hospital overload, food safety and hygiene, environmental sanitation, prevention of emerging diseases, health insurance, the issue of meeting national health standards, etc. Gradually reduce the gap in health service access between regions, especially remote, isolated and extremely disadvantaged areas.

As a female candidate, I am particularly interested in the issues of women and children, especially in remote, isolated, and extremely disadvantaged areas, and ethnic minority women in terms of health and reproductive health, employment, and family happiness. Promote effective implementation of the law on gender equality, the law on domestic violence prevention, and policies for grassroots cadres, meritorious people, and policy families.

PV:According to you, what needs to be done to successfully fulfill the role of a National Assembly delegate as a bridge between voters and authorities?

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh:In my opinion, National Assembly deputies must maintain close contact with voters, listen to and collect voters' opinions, analyze information and reflect truthfully and promptly to the National Assembly, agencies, organizations and competent persons for consideration and resolution in accordance with the situation, ensuring feasibility, effectiveness and practicality.

National Assembly deputies must attend scheduled citizen receptions; proactively research outstanding and pressing issues to make recommendations to competent agencies, organizations and individuals to resolve them to ensure citizens' rights and interests in accordance with the law; fully perform their duties and powers as prescribed in participating in law-making; participate in supervisory activities; participate in discussing and deciding on important national issues.

PV:Thank you comrade!
