Vietnamese star apple is chosen by the US market

After dragon fruit, rambutan, lychee and longan, the US Department of Agriculture has just continued to allow the import of Vietnamese star apple into the country in the fourth quarter of this year.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade has just announced that, at the request of the Vietnam Plant Protection Department, the US Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has completed a Pest Risk Analysis Report to assess the risks associated with importing fresh star apples from Vietnam to the US. Based on this analysis report, the US regulatory agency has concluded that fresh star apples from Vietnam are safe to import.

Accordingly, Vietnamese star apples will be imported as commercial goods. Each export shipment of fresh star apples must have a Phytosanitary Certificate issued by the Plant Protection Department of Vietnam, and must be processed in accordance with regulations under Section 7, Part 305 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Each export shipment is subject to inspection upon arrival at the US port.

Star apple will be the fifth fruit from Vietnam officially allowed to be imported into the US market, expected from the fourth quarter of this year.
