The awards have three main categories: Grand Prize (for Asian writers who have made significant contributions to Asian literature and introduced Asian literature to the world), Literary Prize (for Korean writers), and Literature Prize for Young Adults and Children (for Korean writers).

The recipient of the grand prize must meet three criteria: a proven track record in literature, a commitment to helping the underprivileged in society, and a concern for shared societal values.

According to Ms. Hong Oanh (Korean Cultural Center, Hanoi), on August 25th, the official announcement regarding Bao Ninh's award will be posted on the award's official website by the organizing committee.
