(Baonghean.vn) - To avoid unfortunate damage caused by storms, farmers in Anh Son district urgently harvested summer-autumn corn with the motto "green at home is better than ripe in the fields", with an average yield estimated at 5 tons/ha.

Present in the Hoi Son commune sandbank, despite the heavy rain, farmers are urgently harvesting corn in the fields. Mr. Phan Van Tri, village 8, Hoi Son commune said: This summer-autumn crop, his family planted 5 sao of corn in the Ma sandbank, Lam river. Although it is not yet the commune's mass harvest schedule, his family still has to focus on hiring people to harvest on time to avoid flooding.

Ms. Tran Thi Loc, village 9, Hoi Son commune said: Continuous rain for the past 3 days has caused flooding in many places, this morning the family gathered manpower to finish harvesting the corn area. Due to heavy rain and muddy roads, transporting corn home is very difficult. Currently, her family has to transport the gathered corn in 2 stages to get it home.

In the summer-autumn crop of 2016, the whole Anh Son district planted 2,200 hectares of corn. This is considered the summer-autumn crop with the largest corn planting area ever, with an estimated yield of 2.5 quintals/sao. Currently, the agricultural sector of Anh Son district has directed localities to urgently focus on harvesting corn on alluvial lands to avoid damage caused by floods. At the same time, officials are assigned to closely follow the grassroots to direct communes, villages, hamlets, and directly participate in the timely harvesting of summer-autumn crops.
