In the floodplains of Hoi Son commune, despite the heavy rain, farmers are busily harvesting corn in the fields. Mr. Phan Van Tri, from Hamlet 8, Hoi Son commune, said: "This year, my family planted 5 sao (approximately 0.5 hectares) of corn in the Ma floodplain along the Lam River. Although it's not yet the commune's main harvest season, we still have to hire people to harvest in time to avoid flooding."

Ms. Tran Thi Loc, from Hamlet 9, Hoi Son Commune, said: "The continuous rain over the past three days has caused flooding in many areas. This morning, my family mobilized manpower to finish harvesting the corn crop. Due to the heavy rain and muddy roads, transporting the corn home is very difficult. Currently, my family has to transport the corn in two stages before we can get it home."
In the 2016 summer-autumn crop season, Anh Son district planted 2,200 hectares of corn. This is considered the largest corn planting area in the district's history, with an estimated yield of 2.5 quintals per sao (approximately 250 kg per 1000 square meters). Currently, the Anh Son district's agricultural sector has directed localities to urgently focus on harvesting corn in floodplains to avoid damage from rain and flooding. Simultaneously, officials have been assigned to closely monitor the situation at the grassroots level, guiding communes, villages, and hamlets, reaching out to farmers and directly participating in the timely harvesting of summer-autumn crops.
