Although not located in the central area of ​​Nghe An province, Yen Thanh serves as a gateway connecting various regions, particularly the three key investment and economic development zones of the province: Vinh City and its surroundings, the Hoang Mai - Dong Hoi area, and the Tan Ky - Do Luong - Nghia Dan - Quy Hop area. It acts as a bridge between mountainous districts and the coastal plains. Therefore, the district has favorable conditions for attracting investment.

Tay Nghe Joint Stock Company is investing in the construction of a tunnel kiln brick and tile factory in the Cua Nuong - Dong Thanh Industrial Cluster.

To capitalize on this advantage, the district focuses on planning and infrastructure development, especially industrial clusters and zones, while also completing specialized plans, plans for large projects, and industrial clusters…

In the Yen Thanh Town Industrial Cluster (covering 11 hectares – this industrial cluster benefits from government investment mechanisms), projects in clean technology manufacturing sectors such as garment and electronics are planned and located. Currently, MLB TENERGY Co., Ltd. of Japan has invested $5 million USD in garment production on a 4-hectare site. Since its operation began in 2013, it has been very effective, providing employment for nearly 1,000 local workers.

Currently, in this industrial cluster, the district has signed a memorandum of understanding with two Japanese investors to continue building two factories producing electronic components and high-end wood products. With the positive results of the town's industrial cluster, Yen Thanh continues to focus on the Trang Ke - My Thanh Industrial Cluster (located on National Highway 7A), which the Ministry of Industry and Trade has included in the national plan for small industrial clusters. Currently, the district is submitting the 1/500 detailed planning for approval by the province and has signed a memorandum of understanding with Saigon Beer, Wine and Beverage Company to invest in building an eco-tourism resort and a gas production facility…

Industrial zones in Yen Thanh district are being developed comprehensively. Specifically, the Cong Thanh A and B industrial zones, located within the Van Tu urban planning area in Cong Thanh commune, already have a cassava starch processing plant (belonging to Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery Company) with an investment of $4 million USD, capable of processing 350 tons of raw materials per day. Similarly, the Son Thanh industrial zone is planned to house factories producing tunnel bricks, with an investment of $7 million USD…

Among the industrial zones in Yen Thanh district, the Cua Nuong industrial zone in Dong Thanh commune is currently attracting the attention of investors in the fields of building materials production and forest product processing.

Mr. Thai Van Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thanh commune, said: "To create favorable conditions for investors to implement projects, the commune proactively proposes and coordinates with relevant levels and sectors to do a good job of land clearance, vocational training to meet the human resource needs of businesses, and ensuring security and order... so businesses are very confident in implementing projects."

Thanks to favorable investment policies, Dung Thuy garment company in Son Thanh has opened an industrial garment factory, attracting many workers.

Currently, Tay Nghe Joint Stock Company has invested nearly 80 billion VND to build a tunnel kiln brick factory with a capacity of 20 million bricks per year. In an interview with Mr. Nguyen Viet Thi, Director of the Dong Thanh Tunnel Kiln Brick Factory, it was learned that during its operation, the factory has always received timely attention and support from all levels and sectors, especially in resolving difficulties and obstacles for investors. In the first eight months of 2016, the factory produced 14 million products, providing employment for 150 workers.

To date, the district has 208 investment projects with a total registered capital of VND 4,335 billion, including 203 domestic investment projects with a total implemented investment of VND 3,330 billion; and 5 foreign investment projects with a total implemented investment of VND 483 billion. Over the past period, these investment projects have created many jobs for workers (an average of 4,000 jobs per year) and made significant contributions to the socio-economic development of the district.
