Outstanding farmer tells story of buying car, sending child to study abroad

That is the confession of many outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2016 in the program "Proud of Vietnamese Farmers" organized by Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper.

Raising tuna fish earns billions of dong each year

As the female farmer honored this time, Ms. Hoang Thi Chap, Day ethnic group (born in 1970 in Coc San commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai) feels very proud and said she will continue to promote further in production and business.

Ms. Chap shared that during the recent heavy rains and flash floods, her family suffered great losses but has gradually restored production. In 2015, her family's total revenue reached 1.7 billion VND, with profits reaching about 700 million VND. "Bat Xat area is still a poor area, so many households do not have enough capital when digging ponds and raising fish, and lack fish breeds and care techniques. I enthusiastically participate in guiding them..." - Ms. Chap said.

Farmers drive cars to send their children to study in the US

Mr. Mai Xuan Hai (born in 1967) shared that he felt very proud to be selected by Quang Binh province as the only representative of typical, advanced farmers of the locality to return to the capital Hanoi. Mr. Hai has a 3-hectare integrated farm, the strength of which is raising super lean pigs. Particularly for pork, each year Mr. Hai's farm sells over 100 tons.

Mr. Mai Xuan Hai lives in Tien Phong village, Thanh Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province.

In 2015, Mr. Hai also succeeded in raising chickens, fish, eels, etc. with a profit of more than 1 billion VND. “My family’s economy is now stable, we have the conditions to build a spacious house, have a car for convenient travel, and have the conditions to send our children to study abroad in the US…”- Mr. Hai confided.

1.5 billion loan for farmers without interest

Traveling hundreds of kilometers to Hanoi, Mr. Dang Quang Huu (born in 1974, in Huong Hiep commune, Dakrong district, Quang Tri) shared that this was the second time he had visited the capital Hanoi and both times he was honored for his excellent production and business achievements. Sharing with Dan Viet, Mr. Huu said that his family specializes in forest planting.

Currently, his family has 21 hectares of forest and 7 hectares of cassava. In 2015, his family's revenue reached more than 6 billion, "pocketing" 700 million. Mr. Huu's family provides regular jobs for 10 workers and hundreds of other seasonal workers.

“In addition to developing the family economy, every year I still spend 1.5 billion to help people borrow interest-free to invest in seeds, fertilizers for forest planting, cassava planting; the products are purchased by me…”, Mr. Huu shared.

People with many satellite farms

Mr. Vu Huy Quang, in Luong Mon village, Luong Thinh commune, Tran Yen, Yen Bai.

Mr. Vu Huy Quang (born in 1953 in Luong Mon village, Luong Thinh commune, Tran Yen, Yen Bai) is one of the outstanding farmers this time. He shared: "I feel very proud and honored because my efforts not only enrich myself but also help many farmers to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty. Now I am honored and receive the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer 2016".

Mr. Quang's family has 6,000 m2 and regularly raises 4,000 rabbits to sell to a Japanese pharmaceutical company based in Bac Ninh. Along with hundreds of "satellite" farms, Mr. Quang is supplying Japanese partners with about 15,000 rabbits a year. "Raising rabbits is an effective way to reduce poverty. Currently, the demand for breeding rabbits and commercial rabbits is very large, which will be a condition for farmers to get rich," Mr. Quang said.
