Kim Hong: 'I had an amicable divorce'
After nearly five years of marriage, former Miss Vietnam Kim Hong and businessman Le Hoang Chau have separated because they each have their own paths in life.
Former beauty queen Kim Hong has just returned to Vietnam after nearly two years in the US to manage her business and care for her son, who is studying finance and law at DePaul University in Chicago.
Upon returning to Vietnam, the beauty queen actively participated in social activities, cultural exchanges, and charitable work. Returning to Ho Chi Minh City after a trip to her hometown of Quang Binh to help flood victims, Kim Hong shared about her personal life. She and businessman Le Hoang Chau – Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Real Estate Association – separated more than a year ago, but only now has she spoken about it.

Kim Hong married businessman Le Hoang Chau in 2010. "I have no regrets about the time I spent with Mr. Chau and feel I have fulfilled my duties as a wife and daughter-in-law in the family," she said. |
"Mr. Chau and I agreed to separate respectfully and amicably, and we will remain good friends. Since our marriage, I have been very content because I have been thoughtful and devoted to Mr. Chau and his family, and filial to my mother-in-law. Conversely, Mr. Chau has treated me, my mother, my son, and my family very well and kindly. Mr. Chau is also a great friend of mine and my family, and is greatly loved and respected by my family," she shared.
According to Miss Kim Hong, the reason for the breakup was that each party had their own circumstances and paths, and sometimes they disagreed on things in life. She felt she still had many ambitions in her own career, and as a mother, she needed to spend time with her son during his formative years in a different environment in the United States.
"If I selfishly kept him while I had so many career ambitions, I would feel guilty towards him. Conversely, if Mr. Chau was so passionate about his work that he didn't have time to be with me and take care of my son, Quoc Khanh, in America, he would also worry and feel guilty towards me. We thought it through very carefully and accepted the separation so that each of us could have independence and the freedom to choose our own lives and careers. What makes me happiest and most relieved is that this time, after nearly two years apart, I know that Mr. Chau has settled down and is taking good care of his mother and children," she shared.
