Nguyen Du's Kieu on stage at the Drama Theater

The masterpiece "The Tale of Kieu" was staged into a play combining singing and dancing.

Vietnam Drama Theater is in the process of staging the play The Tale of Kieu, scheduled to premiere in early November.

The Tale of Kieu was adapted into a stage play by writer Nguyen Hieu. The play focuses on exposing the injustices and brutality in feudal society, reflecting the suffering and misfortune of people, especially women. The work also praises talent, beauty, filial piety, altruism, loyalty, and heroism.

Director and People's Artist Anh Tu shared that what he appreciates about Nguyen Du's work is its predictive quality. "When money and unjust power take over, it can overturn all values ​​in society. I think this is a matter of the times," Anh Tu said.

The play combines singing, dancing and physical movements. The image of the lotus flower throughout symbolizes human life from the moment it blooms to the moment it withers, being crushed but still contributing beauty to life.
