State Bank increases interbank exchange rates
On the morning of March 31, the State Bank continued to increase the interbank exchange rate to 20,703 VND/USD, from 20,698 VND/USD on March 30.

On the morning of March 31, many banks' websites simultaneously listed both buying and selling prices higher than on March 30. At Vietcombank, USD was listed for buying at VND20,905 and for selling at VND20,910. At ACB, USD was listed for buying at VND20,900 and for selling at VND20,910. At Eximbank, USD was listed for buying at VND20,890 and for selling at VND20,910.
It is known that at the Government press conference on the afternoon of March 30, Governor of the State Bank Nguyen Van Giau said that, through reports from 78 organizations, corporations, and general companies, the total foreign currency deposit balance of these organizations as of the end of March 2011 was 1.61 billion USD, of which the amount of term deposits was 376 million USD.
According to Governor Nguyen Van Giau, this week or next week, the State Bank will require these corporations and general companies to sell the above foreign currency in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 11 of the Government and in case the corporations have a legitimate need for foreign currency, the bank will resell it.
