Recruiting 600 young intellectuals to be Vice Chairmen of Commune People's Committees

These young intellectuals were added to the communes of the poor district which only had 1 Vice Chairman of the People's Committee.

“The selected candidates must be under 30 years old, be members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union or the Communist Party of Vietnam; have a university degree in a major suitable to the job requirements. Priority will be given to candidates trained in majors such as: Economics, science - technology, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, construction, transportation, natural resources and environment, law and legality”.

The above information was given by Mr. Nguyen Dang Minh, Acting Director of the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs at the press conference on the "Pilot project to select 600 excellent young intellectuals with university degrees to become Vice Chairmen of People's Committees of 62 poor districts" this morning (April 15), in Hanoi.

According to Mr. Minh, this project was approved by the Prime Minister on January 26, 2011 to increase qualified human resources to help Party committees and commune authorities in poor districts organize and implement the Program to support rapid and sustainable poverty reduction for poor districts nationwide; at the same time, lead and direct socio-economic development, help local people develop production, improve material and spiritual life.

Speaking at the press conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, emphasized: The project clearly demonstrates the attention of the Party and State to poor communes; at the same time, it demonstrates the trust of the Party and State in the current young intellectual force. This also aims to create a source of young cadres to supplement leadership and management positions in Party and State agencies through leadership and direction activities for socio-economic development in communes in poor districts nationwide. Contribute to perfecting the mechanism and policies for discovering, selecting, training and fostering young cadres and civil servants through practical activities at the grassroots level.

The project was implemented from 2011 to June 2017.
