(Baonghean) -Dien Ngoc Commune (Dien Chau District, Nghe An) is a commune located in the arc of the right bank of the Bung River. In the past, people's lives were still difficult. However, with efforts and dynamism in business, the coastal countryside is rising up and changing every day.

The difficulty of Dien Ngoc is that the agricultural land is often affected by salinity, the crops have low productivity, the salt making profession has low income, and life is unstable. How to escape poverty is the concern of the Party Committee and the commune government. First of all, it is necessary to stabilize agricultural development, focusing on improving soil quality to cultivate crops and flowers, bringing the average rice yield to 57 tons/ha/crop. Along with cultivation, it is necessary to stabilize livestock, mainly developing a herd of nearly 1,700 pigs and a herd of 8,700 poultry.

Promoting the advantages of the coastal commune, Dien Ngoc also focuses on exploiting the seafood processing and fishing industry. Up to now, the whole commune has 366 vehicles, including 24 offshore fishing boats, with a total exploitation capacity of 21,840 CV. The commune maintains 4 boat building facilities, creating jobs for hundreds of workers. The annual fishing output reaches more than 12,000 tons, of which shrimp reaches 122 tons, crabs and snails 245 tons, exported fish 1,837 tons, market fish of all kinds more than 5,000 tons, and miscellaneous fish 3,675 tons. The income value from fishing reaches 159 billion VND.

Not only exploiting, Dien Ngoc also planned to build Ngoc Van seafood processing village with an area of 2.76 hectares, attracting 75 households to participate, annually processing over 2 million liters of fish sauce. Since its establishment, this village has reduced environmental pollution and better managed food safety and hygiene.

With more than 1km of National Highway 1A passing through the commune, Dien Ngoc has exploited this potential to strongly develop commercial services such as trading in petroleum and agricultural machinery. In addition, there are hundreds of other services such as carpentry, welding, milling and purchasing food. The whole commune currently has nearly 30 small and medium-sized enterprises operating effectively. In this field alone, Dien Ngoc achieved over 72 billion VND last year.

With a growing economy and stable income, Dien Ngoc focuses on infrastructure investment, building a new People's Committee headquarters, constructing Lach Van embankment... In the coming years, the commune will continue to attract investment in infrastructure construction, especially expanding and upgrading main traffic axes, developing seafood fishing, focusing on environmental work in seafood processing areas.
