Manager Alex Ferguson insists Manchester United are very close to winning the Premier League after a dramatic comeback against West Ham, while key rivals Chelsea and Arsenal were both held to draws.

In last night's match, despite being 2 goals behind, MU completely transformed in the second half. Rooney's hat-trick and Hernandez's goal helped MU win a sweet 4-2.

This victory became even more meaningful when immediately after, neither Chelsea nor Arsenal won. If Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Stoke (Drogba scored), Arsenal were even more disappointing when they drew 0-0 with Blackburn right at the Emirates.

This result has helped MU leave behind its two opponents by 7 and 11 points respectively (MU 66, Arsenal 59, Chelsea 55), and although the Red Devils have played one more match, such a gap is difficult to level, when there are only 7 rounds left in the season.

Speaking after the match, Sir Alex said: “We played like champions. Despite being two goals behind, MU played with all our heart and never lost faith. We took complete control in the second half and fully deserved the victory. MU still has seven matches ahead, four at home and three away. We will keep the winning spirit to step up to the championship in the Premier League."

Meanwhile, the hero of the "Red Devils," Wayne Rooney, is likely to be punished by the English Football Association for swearing after scoring a hat-trick. Rooney has defended his actions: "My emotions were high at the time and that was the cause of this unfortunate incident. I absolutely did not mean to target anyone. I would like to apologize for any wrongdoing on my part - which I did as a way to celebrate a memorable goal"./.
