3 year old boy fell into a well, escaped death

(Baonghean) -A 42-month-old baby (3 and a half years old) living in block 4A (Anh Son town, Nghe An) unfortunately fell into a well (9m deep, 3m water) and miraculously survived after 3-5 minutes of being brought up.

Bui Xuan Phuoc (3 and a half years old) fell into a well, and after 3-5 minutes, he escaped the clutches of death. Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan (Phuc's mother) said: at the end of February 2011, Phuoc went to the house of his neighbors Nam and Phuong to play. While everyone was preparing for lunch, he, who is very active, went to Nam's well (a well dug inside the house) which had not yet been built and was only temporarily covered with a few planks. Phuoc stepped on a rotten plank and unfortunately fell into the well.

At that time, a housekeeper for Mr. Nam's family was cleaning (near the well) and saw what happened and called for help. Immediately, everyone used a large electric wire to lower it down and Mr. Hoa (a neighbor) volunteered to go down the well to save Phuoc. After more than 1 minute of diving, the well was deep and dark so Mr. Hoa could not find Phuoc, so he climbed up. At the same time, Mr. Gian Thanh Hoa (32 years old), a young neighbor who had just come home from work, knew what was happening so he ran over and went down the well. After nearly 3 minutes of diving to the bottom of the well, Mr. Hoa was able to carry Phuoc up from the water. At that time, everyone thought that Phuoc would hardly survive.

Phuoc received first aid on the spot and was promptly taken to Anh Son District General Hospital. The doctors devoted themselves to treating and resuscitating Phuoc and after nearly 2 hours Phuoc recovered. Currently, he is attending class at Anh Son Town Kindergarten as usual.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (Director of Anh Son Hospital) confirmed: Phuoc was brought to the hospital at 11:50 on February 27, 2011, in a state of suffocation, with milk in his mouth and his whole body turning purple. Doctors cleared his airway, suctioned out the fluid, gave him oxygen... and after nearly 2 hours he recovered. In my opinion, the time he was in the water was about 3-5 minutes.
