From June 3, the Vietnamese women's team entered the qualifying round of the 2012 London Olympics taking place in Jordan.

According to the decision of the Asian Football Confederation, the second qualifying round of women's football for the London Olympics will be held in Amman (Jordan) from June 3-12.

There will be 5 teams with the best results in the preliminary round participating: Vietnam, Thailand, Iran, Uzbekistan and the host team Jordan.

The London Olympic qualifiers are a great opportunity for Vietnamese female athletes to compete.

The 5 teams participating in the second qualifying round of the Asian region will compete in a round-robin format. The team that wins the qualifying round will qualify for the final qualifying round with the participation of the 5 strongest teams in the continent: Korea, Japan, China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Australia to select the 2 teams with the best results to participate in the 2012 London Olympics.

In the preliminary round, the Vietnamese women's team has just made a strong impression with an unbeaten streak and the debut of many talented young players. However, the opportunity for coach Tran Van Phat and his team to continue in the second qualifying round is predicted to be difficult when the female players have to compete with tough opponents such as Thailand, Iran, and Uzbekistan.
