Women's football team for London Olympics qualifiers

On the night of May 31, the Vietnamese women's football team under the guidance of coach Tran Van Phat left Hanoi to participate in the second qualifying round of the 2012 London Olympic women's football tournament taking place in Jordan.from 3 to 12/6.

Entering the second qualifying round of the 2012 London Olympic women's football tournament, the organizing committee only allowed each team to participate with 20 players, so the coaching board and coach Tran Van Phat decided to shorten the list of participants.

From the 23 players called up, in addition to the injury of midfielder Kim Hong, the Vietnamese women's team is also missing center back Nguyen Thi Nga due to family reasons. Goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh and defender Chu Thi Hang are also not with the team to participate in the second qualifying round.

Before the team set off, the leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation, including President Nguyen Trong Hy, General Secretary Tran Quoc Tuan, and team leader Nguyen Trong Giap, met with the coaching staff and players to encourage and fuel the team's spirit.

According to the plan, after arriving in Amman (Jordan), the Vietnamese women's football team will have 4 days of rest and light practice to get used to the field before meeting Iran (June 5), Jordan (June 7), Uzbekistan (June 10) and the final match against Thailand (June 12). The teams will compete in a round robin to select the top team to compete in the third qualifying round of the 2012 London Olympic women's football tournament.
