Nghe An Provincial People's Committee works with OXFAM Hong Kong on community development strategy

(Baonghean) -On the afternoon of August 10, under the chairmanship of Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee had a working session with representatives of OXFAM Hong Kong.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed issues that have been implemented and will continue to be implemented in the coming years in the mountainous districts of Nghe An province. Since 1997, OXFAM has focused on supporting integrated community development initiatives for ethnic minorities in remote mountainous districts of Ky Son and Tuong Duong. OXFAM has been supporting Nghe An province through a series of sub-projects, in which the majority of financial resources focus on activities supporting agricultural development, veterinary services, activities to help people generate income, provide clean water, support infrastructure, education, relief and resettlement programs, etc. The projects funded by OXFAM Hong Kong have had positive impacts, achieved high efficiency, and supported significant changes in the project's beneficiary areas.

On behalf of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong highly appreciated the coordination and support of OXFAM Hong Kong for Nghe An province in the past time, which has contributed to helping ethnic minorities in the province raise awareness, improve their lives, and reduce poverty. The People's Committee of Nghe An province has assigned the Department of Planning and Investment and related sectors and localities to seriously implement the funding of OXFAM in the period of 2010 - 2013) so that the localities that benefit from the project can maximize its effectiveness. The Vice Chairman of the province hopes that OXFAM will continue to support investment in disadvantaged communes and districts of Nghe An province in the following years.
