Quickly overcome damage caused by storms and floods and take precautions against flash floods in the Western districts

(Baonghean) - The initial damage caused by storm No. 3 in Nghe An is estimated at 155 billion VND, with 3 deaths and 1 injury. Immediately after the storm, the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control directed localities to carry out disaster recovery work, ensure traffic and environmental sanitation; visit and encourage families with victims, and allocate budget to support families with deceased people (2 in Yen Thanh and 1 in Anh Son) with 4.5 million VND each, and support 1.5 million VND for the injured. To overcome the consequences caused by storms No. 2 and No. 3, Nghe An requested the Central Government to support funding to repair and upgrade sea dykes and river dykes: coastal area (Quynh Luu) Dien Trung-Thinh-Thanh (Dien Chau), Nghi Tien (Nghi Loc), support the repair of dams, construction of roads for rescue and relief for people in flooded areas and approved traffic works for flood and storm prevention.

Currently, the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control continue to direct sectors and localities to take precautions against heavy rain causing flash floods in the western districts and inundation in the delta; direct irrigation units and localities to take advantage of operating drainage sluices, clearing drainage axes from the inner fields to the main drainage sluices to quickly overcome the flooding situation, especially in the crop and newly planted rice areas of Nghi Loc, Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Hung Nguyen districts; handle environmental sanitation, visit families with victims, help families in difficulty to quickly stabilize their lives.
