Successful trial planting of purple cardamom variety

After 36 months of experimental planting under the canopy of a 4-year-old mahogany forest in Son Lang commune, Kbang district (Gia Lai), the purple cardamom variety has given very positive results.

Purple cardamom variety grows and develops well, flowering and fruiting rate reaches 100%, dry yield of crop 1 and crop 2 reaches 139-275 kg/ha.

In terms of economic efficiency, 1 hectare of purple cardamom intercropped in Kbang district has yielded a net profit of over 21 million VND.

Not only bringing high economic efficiency, but purple cardamom also contributes to covering bare hills very effectively, contributing to limiting soil erosion and improving soil nutritional conditions.

This project belongs to the topic "Research on growing cardamom in Gia Lai province to protect and develop valuable genetic resources, effectively use sloping land and increase income for people in mountainous areas" conducted by Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong - South Central Coastal Science and Technology Institute in Gia Lai. The topic uses the research method of selecting 4 types of purple cardamom originating from Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh.

Purple cardamom (scientific name is Amomum Longiligulare TLWu) belongs to the ginger family, is one of the precious medicinal plants that is very necessary for medicine and has a very high export value. Cardamom has a spicy taste, warm properties, has the effect of promoting qi, regulating the middle, harmonizing the stomach, making digestion easier, so it is often used in cases of: bloating, belching, indigestion, diarrhea, abdominal pain.
