Center back Long Giang suffered a torn knee ligament, causing the squad inherited from SEA Games 25 to be damaged. However, the most shocking decision of coach Falko Goetz was to outright eliminate Hoang Dinh Tung (Thanh Hoa), the striker who shared the title of V-League top scorer with Le Cong Vinh (10 goals). Tung "son" was left out, at least in the first phase of the training session.
Of course, if Vietnam Olympic team has difficulty scoring, Mr. Falko Goetz can recall Dinh Tung, because after all, with a striker who is constantly in the top list of goalscorers in V-League, his class is something that has been recognized.

Leaving Dinh Tung aside, Mr. Falko Goetz gave the opportunity to Tuan Anh (Dong Nai), a completely unfamiliar striker. The surprise was that, in the entire 2011 season, this striker only scored 2 goals. That was too low an efficiency for a striker, not even considering the level and expertise of the V-League and First Division environments, which are worlds apart. So why did Mr. Goetz leave out Tung "son" and choose Tuan Anh?
In the list of 26 players, it is clear that Vietnam Olympic team lacks a pure striker. Van Quyet and Manh Dung are versatile, but tend to play on the wing. Even Van Quyet, in the Hanoi T&T squad, this player from Ha Tay mainly plays as a winger. But in the 2 matches against Saudi Arabia Olympic team, Van Quyet played as a striker for Vietnam Olympic team.
Except for not having the luck to score, Van Quyet makes coach Phan Thanh Hung satisfied, so that is the reason when put on the scale, the player model with quite similar tendencies like Dinh Tung is eliminated.
Experience preferred
Compared to the previous training session, Vietnam Olympic team said goodbye to a series of players such as Van Thuan, Doan Bac, Tien Duy, Van Viet, Van Hau, Hai Huy, Van Hieu, Ha Minh Tuan, Van Quan. Among them, Than Quang Ninh leader Bui Van Hieu was absent, perhaps attracting the most attention. However, Van Hieu did not play well in the first leg in Saudi Arabia, especially compared to the 2010 season, this midfielder showed signs of decline.

To fill the void left behind, goalkeeper Ba Chien (Nam Dinh) was called up. This is a brand new face, not much hope, but at least it creates more competition for the goalkeeper position. Because clearly, at the end of the 2011 V-League season, Tuan Manh showed signs of running out of steam, while Buu Ngoc and Anh Duc had very few opportunities to play.
In addition, Chu Ngoc Anh, Quoc Long, Thanh Trung, Huynh Phu, Quoc Anh, Thanh Trung, Thai Duong, Duc Thien have been named in the list of Vietnam Olympic. Most of these players were planned and evaluated in advance, especially when the SEA Games stipulated the age limit of 1988. Quoc Long and Thanh Trung are two examples, because the appearance of these two experienced players will increase the strength of Vietnam Olympic.
Similarly, the presence of Quoc Anh, Thai Duong, and Duc Thien clearly increases the maturity of the Vietnam Olympic team. All three players have had a long history of playing for the national team, so it also helps Mr. Falko Goetz to have less trouble with the factors of bravery and maturity.
In addition, it is noteworthy that among the differences in this training session, the central defender position is concentrated with an elite number of players, which certainly also represents a problem that Mr. Falko Goetz must solve, especially when the central defender who was planted and "planted" by the German coach from the Vietnamese team, Long Giang, was injured and had to be a spectator at the 26th SEA Games.
