(Baonghean) -These are 120 households in the resettlement area of Ban Ve Hydropower Plant located in Khe Chong, Ban Ve, Yen Na Commune, Tuong Duong District (Nghe An). Due to continuous heavy rain, the mountains around this residential area have suffered serious landslides, rocks and soil have crashed into houses, cracking the walls and endangering people's lives.
As of 3:00 p.m. on September 13, 8 households had taken refuge, and 24 other households in areas at high risk of landslides were being temporarily relocated by local authorities.
Mr. Nguyen Ho Canh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuong Duong district, said: The district is directing the leaders of Yen Na commune to urgently find another land to arrange for all 120 households in Khe Chong area to move there. Because, currently, the mountain in Khe Chong area is seriously fractured and can collapse at any time.
In another development, the positive slope in the road area about 10 meters from Ban Ve hydroelectric plant is also being broken and eroded, directly threatening this hydroelectric plant.
The prolonged rain also caused landslides that blocked inter-district roads in Tuong Duong. Of these, the road connecting Yen Na commune and Yen Tinh commune had landslides at 23 points, 7 of which were so severe that cars could not pass. By the afternoon of September 13, the district had used excavators to temporarily clear the overflowing soil so that people could travel by motorbike.
The road from Ban Ve to Yen Hoa also suffered from many landslides, the most serious being the section through Ban Hao. The 48C route through Tuong Duong district was also cut off in many sections, the most serious being at Xop Khau village, Yen Thang commune and Vang Mon village, Yen Hoa commune. Currently, the functional forces of Tuong Duong district are making efforts to restore the road as soon as possible.
