(Baonghean) -After Nghe An Newspaper published the information "Khe Ran suspension bridge shows signs of deterioration", more than a week later, the reporter returned to the Khe Ran bridge location (Bong Khe commune, Con Cuong) to continue investigating.

This time, the people of Khe Ran village still expressed concern and worry about the rapid deterioration of some details in the entire structure, which could affect the quality and lifespan of the bridge. After the recent floods, the concrete road on the Khe Ran side has sunk about 20-30 cm, along with cracks appearing on both sides of the slope. The people here still affirm that the cause of this deterioration is that the contractor did not follow the correct procedure, specifically not using a roller to compact the soil at the left bank of the bridge, leading to the phenomenon of subsidence and cracking.

The left bank embankment is severely peeled and cracked.

Talking with Mr. Luu Van Cuu, Head of the Department of Industry and Trade of Con Cuong district, we learned that the Khe Ran suspension bridge project is invested by the Department of Transport, the construction unit is the 465 Mechanical and Construction Joint Stock Company. The project was opened to traffic on September 2, 2010 and handed over to the People's Committee of Con Cuong district on March 25, 2011. Mr. Cuu added that the project is under warranty, so the investor must be responsible for the repair. After receiving the report from the People's Committee of Bong Khe commune about the deterioration of Khe Ran suspension bridge, the Department of Industry and Trade came to inspect and report to the Traffic Works Management Board (under the Department of Transport). The representative of the Traffic Works Management Board promised the People's Committee of the district that they would send a working group to Con Cuong district to inspect and find a solution.

Regarding the cause of the Khe Ran suspension bridge showing signs of rapid deterioration, Mr. Luu Van Cuu also affirmed that the construction on the left bank encountered many difficulties in transporting vehicles and machinery, forcing the contractor to carry out some stages manually (such as compacting the soil), so when it rained and flooded, the ground subsided. According to Mr. Cuu, the subsidence and collapse of the Khe Ran suspension bridge's ground and slopes will affect the aesthetics and traffic safety and order, but not the quality and structure of the entire bridge.
