(Baonghean) -In the midst of the historic September days, we were honored to accompany the delegation of the President and leaders of Nghe An province, crossing the forest to the mountainous district of Thanh Chuong, to join the hard-working workers who worked day and night to plant rubber trees to make the mountains and forests greener, and to make the lives of the people in the mountains more prosperous.
Returning to Thanh Chuong after nearly a year, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Nghe Tinh Soviet Revolution, which was also the day of the first rubber tree planting campaign in the beloved homeland of Uncle Ho, we were truly amazed by the miraculous growth of rubber trees on the hills of Anh Son, Thanh Chuong. General Director of the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group (VRG) Tran Ngoc Thuan reported to President Truong Tan Sang and the working delegation that: Rubber trees planted in this western Nghe An region are growing better than some areas in the southern provinces, this is a good sign for Nghe An to expand the rubber acreage to some districts in the province.
Standing in the middle of a one-year-old rubber hill in Da Han area, Thanh Chuong district, Mr. Nguyen Van Hien, General Director of Nghe An Rubber Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, introduced the process of rubber tree development in Nghe An. Immediately after receiving the rubber tree development policy of CNCSVN Group, with the drastic participation of the People's Committee and departments in the province, in July 2007, Nghe An Rubber Investment and Development Joint Stock Company was established with a charter capital of 150 billion VND. Immediately after its establishment, the Company quickly received 2,085.5 hectares of land from Anh Son Forestry Company to implement the rubber planting project. The opening of the "campaign" to develop rubber trees in Nghe An was marked on September 12, 2010 when the launching ceremony for planting new rubber trees was held in Thanh Duc commune, Thanh Chuong district with the presence of Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, representatives of CNCSVN Group, leaders of central ministries, branches, Nghe An province, localities and a large number of people in the project area. According to Mr. Hien, to meet the work requirements, the Company has recruited 175 officers and employees divided into 4 specialized departments with 3 affiliated production units including: 12-9 Anh Son Rubber Farm, Que Phong Rubber Farm and the seedling production team. With the leadership, direction and close supervision of the Company's board of directors, along with a team of young, dedicated employees, the rubber trees have now spread their green shade.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company, Pham Trung Thai, who "participated in the battle" from the early days of establishment, excitedly said: "In the early days of reclaiming land and bringing rubber trees to the Western region of Nghe An, we encountered many difficulties, even at times it seemed impossible. But thanks to the attention of the central ministries and branches, the encouragement of the CNCSVN Group; the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, the leaders of Thanh Chuong and Anh Son districts and the people in the project area, all difficulties gradually passed, the rubber trees grew, contributing to creating a new green color".
The Company's report shows that, up to now, the Company has reclaimed and planted more than 200 hectares of rubber in Anh Son (over 97 hectares) and Thanh Chuong (over 112 hectares) districts; produced hundreds of thousands of seedlings to meet the demand for new planting of 2,500 hectares in 2011. Rubber trees growing in Uncle Ho's homeland will contribute to creating stable jobs for hundreds of cadres, workers and thousands of seasonal contract workers. In addition, the Company also supports capital for people to receive contracts to intercrop with other crops and develop livestock to increase income and improve their lives.
After visiting the rubber plantation, the President warmly greeted the workers. Worker Nguyen Thi Hang told the President: "I used to be a forestry worker at Anh Son and transferred to work at Nghe An Rubber Investment and Development Joint Stock Company. I see that working as a rubber worker gives you a stable job, a good income, and your living standards have improved significantly, because your average monthly income is over 3.5 million VND. In addition to your salary, you also receive allowances such as lunch money, gas money, and insurance benefits of all kinds. We promise to always stick with rubber trees because rubber trees bring high economic efficiency."
Excited about the initial results achieved by Nghe An Rubber Investment and Development Joint Stock Company in a new year of planting, President Truong Tan Sang acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Company's staff. Although the initial implementation of the rubber development project in the Western region of Nghe An still encountered many difficulties and obstacles, and the land area for rubber planting was still modest, the rubber area planted less than a year old has grown well. This affirms the determination of the leaders of Nghe An province, districts, communes and workers who are attached to rubber trees. The President requested Nghe An province, districts and communes to use all measures to create land funds to help the Company continue to develop the large rubber plantation area to tens of thousands of hectares, to create jobs, and contribute to hunger eradication and poverty reduction for disadvantaged mountainous areas.
Mr. Phan Dinh Trac, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee reported to the President: "Nghe An province has planned 25,000 hectares of land for rubber development. From now until 2020, Nghe An will strive to increase the total area of newly planted rubber to over 10,000 hectares".
Goodbye Thanh Chuong, goodbye to those who work hard to grow green rubber trees, contributing to the development of their homeland in this remote Western region of Nghe An.
