This afternoon, November 3, the U23 Vietnam team started their opening match against the Philippines team. Along with the players were dozens of fans on their way to the stadium in Jakarta (Indonesia).

At Changi Airport (Singapore) waiting for a connecting flight to Jakarta, Mr. Tran Song Hai, Vice President of the Vietnam Fans Association, said that his group of 20 people will be at the stadium this afternoon to cheer for the team. He is a scout for the 175-member fan group that is expected to arrive in Jakarta on November 19 (the day of the semi-final match) on a chartered plane from Vietnam Airlines.

Revealing the price of renting a private plane, Mr. Hai said that previously, Vietnam Airlines calculated the cost for each fan to go to Indonesia at 12.9 million VND. However, recently, they increased the cost of parking the private plane to 35,000 USD, so each person will have to pay an additional 4 million VND.

"I have sent a dispatch to the General Director of Vietnam Airlines calling on businesses to support the Fan Club, keeping the original cost unchanged, hoping they will give preferential treatment because of their love for football," said Mr. Hai.

The Vice President of the Fans' Association said that because the tour ticket price to Indonesia offered by travel companies is nearly 30 million VND, it does not attract many fans to the stadium. The solution of renting a private plane will help reduce costs for fans and create concentration when going to watch football together. He also called on fans to come to Indonesia in many ways to cheer for the Vietnamese team.

Mr. Song Hai said he was very nervous because the German coach introduced the European style of long passing, while the Vietnamese team often played in a Latin style, or holding the ball for a long time. Recently, the U23 Vietnam team drew with the second team of Malaysia at My Dinh Stadium, which made him even more worried.

"Football is a game of chance, so we have full confidence in our team's victory. The more difficult it is, the more fans must stand by the players. Even if we have to rent a plane at high cost or have to cover the loss, we are determined to bring fans to the stadium if the team reaches the semi-finals. Hopefully, the stadium in Jakarta will be as bright red as My Dinh Stadium," said the leader of the Vietnam Fans Association.

Vietnam's number 1 fan, Mr. Tuan "Golden Buffalo", has fully prepared his luggage and equipment to stir up the atmosphere at the SEA Games. He and 15 fans from Nam Dinh and Lang Son will buy plane tickets and book hotel rooms to Indonesia on November 14.

This time in Jakarta, Mr. Tuan "Golden Buffalo" said he had prepared 2 dragons for decoration and the eagle on the hat is the symbol of SEA Games. He also sewed 2 sets of clothes with stars like flowers and hung balloons quite impressively.

"I made my own outfit for 1.6 million VND and made 8 more for other fans, ensuring that the clothes and accessories are the most impressive in the arena. That's enough to attract attention and encourage everyone to do their best to support the team," Mr. Tuan told VnExpress.net.

Talking about the team, this number 1 fan commented that the current team does not have outstanding faces like Hong Son, Minh Hieu, Cong Vinh before, only waiting for the breakthrough spearhead Thanh Luong. However, the qualifying round has weak opponents so the possibility of the Vietnamese team reaching the semi-finals is quite clear, the final round depends on luck.

This 62-year-old fan said that he has devoted his love to Vietnamese football for decades. He spent all his pension from a military major on preparing cheering equipment and expenses for trips with the team. Due to poor health, this SEA Games season will end his football cheering career, so he decided to devote all his energy to Jakarta this time.

"I hope my last cheering will see the Vietnamese team lift the Southeast Asian championship trophy," Mr. Tuan confided.
