(Baonghean) -On the afternoon of September 13, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee inspected the damage caused by floods in Yen Thanh and Hung Nguyen districts. Accompanying him were leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Provincial Irrigation Department, the Provincial Dyke and Flood Control Department.
In Hung Nguyen, 1,066 hectares of rice in the communes of Hung Loi, Hung Thinh, Hung Dao, Hung Yen, Hung Trung, and Thi Tran were flooded. These areas of rice are in the green stage and are basically considered a total loss. The communes with the largest flooded areas are Hung Trung 300 hectares, Hung Yen Nam 110 hectares, Hung Yen Bac 90 hectares, and Hung Dao 100 hectares.

Yen Thanh district has more than 1,500 hectares out of 13,400 hectares of summer-autumn rice flooded, mainly in communes in the drainage area of Vach Bac canal such as Hau Thanh, Lang Thanh, Ma Thanh, Duc Thanh, Phuc Thanh.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has directed localities to promptly harvest ripe rice fields, with the policy of "green house is better than ripe field", and at the same time organize dredging of canals and drainage.
