(Baonghean)In order to expedite the resolution of outstanding resistance war veteran records, this afternoon, October 21st, under the chairmanship of Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee held a meeting with relevant departments and agencies regarding the outstanding work of awarding war veteran commendations.

In accordance with the Government's policy of definitively resolving outstanding issues related to awards and commendations for participation in the resistance wars, with the deadline in 2011, the Provincial People's Committee has focused on directing relevant departments and agencies to guide localities in reviewing outstanding issues concerning those who participated in the resistance wars. Based on this, districts, cities, and towns have received and evaluated dossiers, and 17 out of 20 districts have forwarded 6,704 dossiers to the Emulation and Commendation Board for compilation and submission to the Central Government for resolution. During the implementation process, several difficulties have emerged, such as the significant number of medals and decorations being replaced due to incorrect names, addresses, or damage, while previously archived manually, resulting in significant delays; some medals and decorations have seals but lack the signatures of the award recipients; and based on age, some individuals who officially received medals and decorations for the resistance against the French were mistakenly awarded for their participation in the resistance against the Americans, and vice versa…

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong affirmed that resolving the backlog of resistance war dossiers is essential to acknowledge the contributions of those who participated in the resistance war. Therefore, he requested the Emulation and Commendation Board to focus its efforts on reviewing and compiling dossiers to promptly submit them to the Central Committee in 2011 to ensure the rights of the people. This is the final phase of resolving the backlog; if people continue to petition or propose, supplementary dossiers will still be accepted. The Emulation and Commendation Board needs to urgently advise the Provincial People's Committee to send a document to the Government and central ministries and agencies reflecting on the situation of those who have been commended but not yet rewarded in Nghe An in the past and proposing that the Central Committee provide specific guidance on the source of rewards for those who have been commended. Reviewing health insurance, funeral expense benefits, and other outstanding issues and problems is also necessary to address them promptly and ensure the rights of the beneficiaries...
