(Baonghean.vn) Known as the province's rice granary, with 280,000 people, 39 communes and towns, 80% of whom are farmers who have been loyal to the lowland fields for generations, the rice countryside of Yen Thanh has been mentioned in the old folk song "When there is no rice, there is rice from Dong Thanh". However, like many other countrysides, Yen Thanh is not only rich in rice, but is also a land rich in historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions.

As a fertile land with good rice, famous far and wide, Yen Thanh homeland has produced famous people, talented scholars, heroes and heroes who have brought glory to the country. The first laureate of Bach Lieu was the first laureate in Nghe An, names such as: Ho Tong Thoc, Le Doan Nha, Phan Thuc Truc, Phan Dang Luu... are "talents" born in this "spiritual" land, bringing glory to the historical and cultural traditions of the homeland. Is that why the leaders of Yen Thanh district have known how to revive that tradition in the lives of each citizen, as well as orient the economic, cultural and social development of the locality, through the implementation of the project on developing culture and sports in the period 2006 - 2010. With the goal of improving the quality of cultural and sports activities to enhance the enjoyment of cultural and spiritual life for the people.

First of all, let's talk about the people working in culture here. It can be said that in Yen Thanh, the team of cultural cadres from the district to the commune has had a qualitative change. In the district cultural center, there are 16 cadres, 7 of whom have university degrees, 3 have college degrees, the rest have intermediate degrees, and are assigned to work in their respective fields of training. Cultural cadres at the commune level also have university, college and intermediate degrees or higher. 39/39 communes and towns have cultural civil servants with appropriate professional training, of which more than 50% have university and college degrees.

In addition to improving the quality of cultural staff, the district has gradually increased investment in building facilities for cultural and sports activities. The district Cultural Center has invested in and upgraded facilities such as: traditional rooms, libraries, sports grounds, and cultural houses. The district has 485/488 villages with planned land for cultural and sports activities, reaching a rate of 99.3%. The district has 474/488 villages with cultural houses, of which over 50% meet standards, 38/39 communes have stadiums. Most communes have libraries, cultural post offices, traditional rooms, and grassroots radio stations. By the end of 2010, the district had 235 villages, accounting for 47%, achieving the title of culture, 83% of cultural families, and 14 communes recognized by the district People's Committee as communes that have built standard cultural and sports facilities...

Regarding Yen Thanh, the most impressive feeling for us is the district's investment in the cause of socio-cultural development. Each commune recognized as meeting the standards for building cultural and sports facilities will receive an investment of 10 million VND from the district, each cultural village that meets the standards for building cultural facilities will receive a reward of 1 million VND from the district, and any hamlet that builds a cultural house will receive a support of 15 million VND from the district... The above stimulus solutions have motivated people to be excited, self-conscious, and unanimous in promoting their internal resources to build facilities for cultural activities. Currently, many cultural houses have a budget of over 200 million VND, which is the result of socialization and promoting the internal resources of the people.

It is worth noting that in Yen Thanh, cultural and sports activities are all aimed at serving the people and meeting the needs of the grassroots. Therefore, the cultural activity models that the district has directed to build and replicate throughout the district have been promoted and served the grassroots well, such as the models: Information Arts in Lang Thanh, Tuong Club in Xuan Thanh, Wedding according to cultural lifestyle in Dong Thanh... Yen Thanh is a land of Tuong singing known throughout the country, Tuong clubs operate regularly and have quality such as: Xuan Thanh, Bac Thanh, Hau Thanh, Phuc Thanh, Dong Thanh. The authorities of the communes have nurtured the clubs and art troupes by providing land for production to raise funds for activities.

Every year, clubs and art troupes have built many special programs to serve the people during holidays, New Year, and festivals, enriching the spiritual and cultural life of the people, contributing to preserving and maintaining the national cultural identity. Yen Thanh is not only known as the land of rice, the land of learning, the land of revolution, Yen Thanh is also known as the land of literature, the land that produces people working in literature, art, and journalism, who have made and are making worthy contributions to the cultural and artistic movement of the province in general and the district in particular.

Accompanying the homeland, artists and cultural activities, the press of the rice countryside have made many contributions to society, created valuable cultural faces, made an impression on the public, made creative efforts, contributed to creating a unique identity and mark in the large family of literature and press of the province. They are Huy Huyen, Ngo Duc Tien, Phan Van Tu, Dang Hong Thiep, Nguyen Dang Che, Lang Hong Quang, Phan Ba Ham, Hoang Van Han, Nguyen Duy Doi, Phan The Phiet, Phan Sinh Vien, Nguyen The Ky, Hoang Chinh, ... Their literary and press works have contributed to creating a cultural and artistic movement of the rice countryside that is increasingly flourishing, and their works have contributed to enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the people of the district.
