Competitive electricity market operation postponed again
According to Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, the competitive electricity market may be piloted at the end of February instead of the originally planned January 1, 2011.
The Government Office has just announced the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on the development of the competitive electricity market. The Deputy Prime Minister said that on January 1, 2012, the competitive electricity market cannot officially operate because the time for testing the entire information technology infrastructure system is not guaranteed; the conversion of electricity purchase contracts also has many problems.
Therefore, the Deputy Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to carry out a number of tasks so that by the end of February 2012, it will review and, if all conditions are met, decide when to officially put the competitive electricity market into operation.
