In 1989, after completing the Central Intermediate Level Childcare Training Course in Hanoi, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, from Nghi Phu commune (Vinh City), volunteered to work at Lien Co B Kindergarten (now Tan Lac Town Kindergarten) in the mountainous district of Quy Chau. Later, she worked at kindergartens in Chau Binh and Chau Hoi communes. In 2009, Ms. Hien was appointed Principal of Chau Thang Commune Kindergarten. Recalling her early days at the school, Ms. Hien confided: "The people here are very poor; they don't have enough rice to eat. It's already difficult for parents to send their children to school, let alone send them to kindergarten." Through her teaching experience, she realized that maintaining student enrollment was truly challenging, as the custom of sending children to work in the fields while parents are away was still deeply ingrained in the minds of the ethnic minority people.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Hien
Concerned about how to attract children to class, she encouraged her colleagues to spend one part of the day teaching and the other part visiting parents' homes, talking to them, understanding their circumstances, thoughts, and aspirations, and persuading them not to send their children to work in the fields but to send them to school, ensuring both their health and literacy. In addition, she has compiled many innovative ideas and experiences to apply in practice, such as: "Nutrition Education - Food Safety and Hygiene," "Organizing Meals for Children Aged 24 to 36 Months," and "Caring for Malnourished Children." This has created opportunities for the teaching staff to strive and improve the quality of their teaching. To date, the school has developed strongly in both scale and quality, becoming a trusted choice for parents.
With 17 years of service and nearly 3 years dedicated to Chau Thang Kindergarten as its principal, in addition to her passionate love for the profession and children, Ms. Hien has always shared and provided both spiritual and material support to all her colleagues, especially those facing difficult circumstances. As a result, the school has a dedicated and enthusiastic teaching staff, always ready to sacrifice personal interests for the common good, contributing to the transformation of Chau Thang Kindergarten from a near-wealthy school in the district to an advanced school, achieving national standard level I. Ms. Hien herself has been awarded the title of Excellent Teacher at the district and provincial levels for eight consecutive years, and has been recognized as an outstanding worker at the grassroots level for many years. She was also honored with the title of "Excellent in Public Service, Excellent in Family Life" for the periods 2000-2005 and 2005-2010.
