Nghi Hai Ward celebrates 65 years of tradition of Vietnam Red Cross Society

(Baonghean) - This morning, November 22, the Nghi Hai Ward Red Cross Society (Cua Lo Town) solemnly held the 65th Anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (November 23, 1946 - November 23, 2011).

At the ceremony, delegates listened to a speech reviewing the traditional significance of the Vietnam Red Cross Society over the past 65 years, the results that the Nghi Hai Ward Red Cross Society has achieved. The Nghi Hai Ward Red Cross Society was established on September 19, 1991, after 20 years of operation, the Society has 16 branches with 1,535 members. This is the leading unit of the Cua Lo Commune Red Cross Society movement, an excellent and strong unit of the Nghe An Red Cross Society, which has been awarded the Medal for Humanitarian Cause by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the highest award of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, 15 certificates of merit from the Vietnam Red Cross Society, many certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Association for collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements.

Promoting the humanitarian tradition with the spirit of mutual love and support, the Red Cross Association of Nghi Hai Ward actively promotes humanitarian activities in the locality, organizes visits and presents gifts to poor families, families in sudden difficult circumstances, victims of Agent Orange; organizes humanitarian blood donations; coordinates medical examination and treatment, and provides free medicine to people, etc.

At the ceremony, the Ward Red Cross Association launched a movement to promote the campaign "one organization, one individual associated with one humanitarian address" in a practical and effective manner, associated with the activity "Tet for the poor" and Agent Orange victims in 2012.
