Exchange to celebrate the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand

(Baonghean) -On the afternoon of December 4, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province held a ceremony to celebrate the 84th anniversary of the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand (December 5, 1927 - December 5, 2011) and raise funds to support people in flood-hit areas in Thailand.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations; representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and a large number of overseas Vietnamese who have studied, lived and worked in Thailand.



National Day performance by Thai students

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, emphasized: “As countries in the Southeast Asian region, Vietnam and Thailand have many similarities in history and culture, and the people of the two countries have a long-standing understanding and traditional exchange. The comprehensive friendship and cooperation between the two countries has been constantly consolidated and developed in many fields, both in breadth and depth... Recently, the two countries celebrated the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with many rich and practical activities. We believe that, on the basis of the long-standing traditional friendship and the experience of past successes, the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand will certainly reap many new achievements in the coming years.”

The Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province was established in February 2002 with hundreds of members, the core of which are those who were born, raised, lived and worked in Thailand and returned home. Since its establishment, the Association has had practical activities such as: organizing information exchange activities with partners in Thailand, participating in tourism and trade activities; organizing meetings on major holidays; opening Thai language classes, participating in charity activities...

On this occasion, members of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association donated nearly 25 million VND to support Thai people to overcome the consequences of floods and soon stabilize their lives.
