After 4 days of entering the market, the number of passengers traveling on Vietjet Air flights has reached over 95%, ticket sales efficiency has also reached 100%. Other airlines are also "sold out" of tickets for domestic flights during Tet.

On December 24, Vietjet Air began operating its first commercial flight on the domestic route from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. After 4 days of flying, the number of passengers on Vietjet Air flights has reached a seat utilization rate of 80-95%.

The airline representative shared that after the first flight, passengers' feedback on Vietjet Air was quite positive. To meet the travel demand during the Lunar New Year, which is expected to increase by over 50%, Vietjet Air decided to increase the frequency of the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route during the peak season by 3 round trips per day. Flight times are divided equally into morning, noon and evening. The increase in these additional flights is to minimize the situation of sold-out air tickets during the Tet holiday.

The airline representative also said that survey results showed that during Tet 2012, demand for air travel increased by about 50% compared to normal days. In particular, for flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh and Hai Phong, the expected increase was about 70% - 100%.

Therefore, Vietjet Air recommends that passengers should be present at the airport early to check in at least 90 minutes before departure time. Because if they arrive late, they often do not have the opportunity to fly because the next flight is full. In addition, when traveling, passengers need to bring all valid identification documents... At the same time, to limit the situation of ticket brokers pushing up the price, customers should plan to buy early and buy on the official ticket sales website or contact the company's hotline for support.

In fact, the situation of "sold out" domestic flight tickets is quite common during the Lunar New Year, even though domestic airlines have announced a series of additional flights.

According to many ticket agents, compared to the same period last year, airfare prices have increased significantly, but travel demand has not decreased. In particular, routes that are often overloaded during Tet include Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh, Hai Phong... "Normally, customers have to book at least 2-3 months in advance to choose the flight time and flight they want," said Mr. Minh, the owner of a ticket agent.

In the beginning, with 3 Airbus 320-200s, Vietjet Air will only focus on operating flights on the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route and will open the Da Nang route in the first quarter of 2012.

Currently, on the ticket sales networks of most airlines, there are only seats left for a few domestic flights operating early in the morning or late at night.

Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam - Lai Xuan Thanh assessed that in the current context of domestic airlines continuously suffering losses and having to raise ticket prices, the birth of Vietjet Air will be a new driving force to promote the development of the Vietnamese aviation industry. In addition, with its competitive ticket prices, Vietjet Air will create more flight opportunities for domestic people and international tourists to Vietnam.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, currently 88% of international visitors to Vietnam come by air, 10% by road and only 2% by sea. The aviation market is assessed to have strong potential for development in the future.
