Milito, the "killer," scores as Inter demolish Parma 5-0.
With a brace and an assist, striker Diego Milito played a significant role in Inter Milan's 5-0 demolition of Parma in Serie A's 17th round, closing in on the top four to just one point behind.
Following their achievements before the end of 2011, Claudio Ranieri's team confidently entered their first match of the new year against Parma. A victory would bring them closer to the top four and, more importantly, boost their confidence for the remainder of the season.

That confidence was clearly evident in the first half when former Inter Milan hero Diego Milito (then under the management of Jose Mourinho) returned to impressive form.
With his most impressive performance of the season so far, the Argentinian striker scored a brace in the 12th and 41st minutes. Sandwiched between these two goals was a strike from Thiago Motta, but Milito played a crucial role when his shot inadvertently became a perfect pass for his teammate.
The three-goal lead fueled Inter Milan's inspired performance for the remainder of the match. In the 55th minute, following a clever through pass from Diego Milito, Giampaolo Pazzini calmly slotted the ball into the net to make it 4-0, before Marco Faraoni sealed the 5-0 victory with a stunning goal.
With this victory, Inter Milan now have 29 points after 17 rounds, staying just one point behind the top four, as Lazio unexpectedly lost 4-0 to Siena in the other match played at the same time. Siena's four goals were scored by two braces each from Destro and Calaio.
