(Baonghean.vn) -Another spring has arrived in Nghe An province. Amidst the vibrant spring atmosphere, people from all over Nghe An are celebrating a peaceful and warm Tet holiday...

Throughout the province, many localities organized cultural and artistic activities to celebrate the Party and the Lunar New Year. In the districts and towns, many sports activities associated with folk festivals took place enthusiastically, such as boat racing, volleyball, human chess, stick pushing, tug-of-war, throwing the ball, and cockfighting.

This year, goods for Tet (Lunar New Year) were abundant, diverse, and of guaranteed quality, with many consumer goods reaching even remote areas. In addition to supermarkets and fixed stores, businesses organized 14 additional price-stabilized sales points, with a total value of essential goods stockpiled to stabilize prices during Tet, amounting to 34.77 billion VND. The health sector and related units established inter-agency inspection teams to check food safety and hygiene at food production, processing, and collective kitchens serving Tet. No major disease outbreaks occurred during the Tet holiday.

Regarding meeting travel needs during Tet (Lunar New Year), Mr. Nguyen Hong Ky, Director of the Department of Transport, said: The transport sector has proactively implemented solutions such as repairing road surfaces, reviewing and promptly supplementing the traffic safety sign system, repairing weak road sections and bridges, transport units have focused on transporting essential goods to serve Tet in remote, mountainous areas, developing plans to serve passenger transport during Tet, and instructing drivers to strictly comply with regulations on not overloading, not driving around to pick up passengers outside bus stations, and not stopping or parking arbitrarily...

The armed forces in the province intensified patrols and guard duties to ensure security and order, crack down on criminals, and ensure that the people could enjoy a peaceful Lunar New Year celebration. During the Tet holiday, the political security situation was basically well-maintained, key targets were protected safely; crimes against social order and traffic accidents decreased compared to 2011.

From the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, farmers in Yen Thanh district have been busy planting rice for the spring crop, creating a vibrant atmosphere of competition right from the beginning of the new year. Farmers in many other localities throughout the province are taking advantage of favorable weather conditions to focus on planting rice for the 2012 spring crop on a large scale, striving to cover the entire area within the planting season, determined to achieve a comprehensively successful harvest. To date, the entire province has planted 5,000 hectares out of a planned 85,000 hectares. Localities are implementing disease control measures according to the guidance of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and measures to protect cattle and buffalo from the cold.

Power plants and water supply companies assigned staff and workers to be on duty during Tet to ensure electricity and water for people's daily lives and production. The communication system basically worked well, with no significant network congestion. This year, Nghe An province had 500 foreigners and a larger number of overseas Vietnamese and workers returning home for Tet than in previous years. The average number of tourists staying in Vinh City and Cua Lo during Tet was 2,500 people per day. Large hotels and restaurants were open and ready to serve guests throughout the Tet holiday.

This year's Tet (Lunar New Year) brought warmth to many families thanks to the care and support from all levels of government, including gifts and financial assistance. In addition, the Provincial People's Committee allocated 9,000 tons of rice, provided by the government, to ethnic minorities and impoverished households facing food shortages during the Tet holiday and the lean season of 2012. Businesses and philanthropists joined hands in social welfare activities to help disadvantaged families have a warmer Tet, giving them renewed strength and confidence to overcome difficulties in life.
