Local Party Newspaper with propaganda work on new rural construction

Attending the workshop were comrades: Pham Quoc Toan - Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association, Hoang Huu Luong - Director of the Press Department - Ministry of Information and Communications, representative of the Central Propaganda Department in the Central Highlands, Mang Dung - Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee. Journalists Doan Minh Phung - Editor-in-Chief of Gia Lai Newspaper, Nguyen Tien Son - Editor-in-Chief of Quang Ngai Newspaper and Hoang Minh Tien - Editor-in-Chief of Quang Binh Newspaper chaired the workshop.
The introduction of the Editor-in-Chief of Gia Lai Newspaper mentioned: the Central and Central Highlands regions include 19 provinces and cities, with an area of over 156,800 km2.2, population 22.4 million people. The provinces and cities have their own characteristics but similar characteristics: the terrain is divided, isolated, the climate is harsh, storms and floods often occur, people live mainly on agriculture, depend on nature and life is still difficult. In recent years, the rural face of the Central and Central Highlands has gradually changed significantly. However, the rural areas of this region still have many limitations, the contribution of farmers and rural areas is high, the welfare provided to farmers is low. To overcome this situation, local Party newspapers need to pay attention to promoting the construction of new rural areas, in order to contribute to promoting socio-economic development, promoting the good values, rich in identity of Vietnamese rural areas.

Next, Vice Chairman of Mang Dung Provincial People's Committee, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Journalists Association Pham Quoc Toan and Director of the Press Department Hoang Huu Luong delivered welcoming speeches and highly appreciated the topicality and practical significance of the conference of local Party newspapers in the region.
At the workshop, delegates listened to nearly 10 presentations by representatives of newspapers from Binh Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Dac Nong, Da Nang, Quang Tri, Quang Binh, Kon Tum, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Thuan and Nghe An. The presentations outlined some of the achievements and experiences in the propaganda work on new rural areas of the localities. In particular, the newspapers paid special attention to typical examples and models of planning, infrastructure construction, economic development, craft villages, job creation, poverty reduction, and improvement of the material and spiritual life of farmers.
With careful preparation by Gia Lai Newspaper - the host and the active participation of Party newspapers in the Central and Central Highlands regions, the 19th Conference, Round III was a great success. The next conference will be held in April 2012, hosted by Quang Binh Newspaper.
* Before the conference, on December 3, delegates had a field trip to Chu Prong district at Ongol village, Iave commune - the new rural model of the district. Ongol village has more than 90% Jarai people but the countryside has many innovations, stable life, average monthly income per capita of 12 million VND, many households have an income of 200 million VND. On this occasion, the village inaugurated a clean water project with an investment value of more than 1 billion VND. With the sponsorship of Saigon Beer Alcohol Beverage Corporation, Gia Lai Newspaper presented a house of gratitude worth 50 million VND to a martyr's family in Chu Prong town.
Visiting Chu Prong Rubber One Member Co., Ltd. - a heroic labor unit in the renovation period, local Party newspapers listened to the Company's leadership representative inform about production and business activities to complete the 2011 plan and especially the contribution to building new rural areas in the area. The Company's 7 farms and processing factories have employed and created jobs for more than 40% of the labor force who are ethnic minorities, which is a condition for agricultural and rural development. Major General Nguyen Xuan Sang - Hero of the People's Armed Forces and Hero of Labor, Commander of the Corps said: the development of the Corps over the past 26 years has always been associated with Gia Lai, the Central region and the Central Highlands. Over the years, the Corps has participated in the construction of thousands of kilometers of rural roads, dozens of dams, and many projects, creating jobs for 20,000 workers, with over 38% and many units having over 70% of the workers being ethnic minorities in the area. The Corps has also implemented many infrastructure and socio-cultural projects to promote the socio-economic development of Gia Lai.
