(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 13th, in Vinh City, the Nghe An Provincial Women's Union held a ceremony to summarize the results of the 3-year implementation of the project "Enhancing the Rights of Women and Children in Nghe An Province" from 2009 to 2011.

The project "Enhancing the Rights of Women and Children in Nghe An Province," funded by the Swedish NGO AC, was implemented in 12 communes across four districts: Quynh Luu, Nam Dan, Thanh Chuong, and Nghia Dan. After three years of implementation, over 1,300 women received training, 24 clubs for the advancement of women were established and are operating effectively. 100% of club members participate in regular meetings, improving their knowledge and sharing experiences on gender issues, enhancing women's and children's rights and quality of life, and gaining a better understanding of the rights and laws related to women and children.

In the project-beneficiary communes, 90% of women's association members and 100% of parent and child representatives from families in need, such as those at high risk of domestic violence, poverty, child abandonment, and migrant workers, attended communication sessions organized at the commune level, and up to 90% of these families committed to not abandoning their children.

In addition, local government officials and departments have actively participated and committed to supporting the activities of the Women's Union, proposing solutions to proactively integrate efforts aimed at ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of women and children, preventing gender inequality, domestic violence, and child abandonment.
