With home advantage and a much better squad, Tottenham did not have much difficulty dominating the game and controlling the ball against Everton. The home team's advantage was confirmed by the opening goal in the 35th minute. Lennon received the ball from the right wing and dribbled past two Everton players before shooting into the near corner, defeating goalkeeper Tim Howard.

In the second half, the gap was widened to 2-0 for Tottenham when left-back Ekotto fired a powerful shot from more than 25m away, the ball hit Everton's Tim Cahill and flew straight into the top corner of Everton's goal. In the remaining minutes, coach David Moyes sent Drenthe onto the field but the away team's attack was still deadlocked against Tottenham's solidity.

The 2-0 victory over Everton helped the home team equalize points with the team ranked 2nd on the rankings, Man United, with 45 points after 20 rounds.

Currently, coach Harry Redknapp and his team are only 3 points behind the leading team Man City./.
