(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of February 16, comrades Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam. Also attending were representatives of a number of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

At the reception, on behalf of the leaders of Nghe An province, comrades Phan Dinh Trac and Ho Duc Phoc warmly congratulated comrade Somphone Sichaleune, who has just been appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam; and at the same time, announced the results of the socio-economic development of Nghe An province in 2011.

Nghe An has a 419 km border with Laos with 3 provinces of Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan and Booly Khamxay. Over the past years, the political, economic and cultural relations between Nghe An and the provinces of Laos have become increasingly close and have developed steadily. Nghe An currently has 10 enterprises investing in Laos with a total investment of 60 million USD, 32 enterprises operating in import and export with an export turnover of 40 million USD in 2011. Every year, Nghe An provides training and grants scholarships to many cadres and students from Laos to study at colleges and universities; and helps build schools in Laos with more than 20 billion VND. The recent working visit of the Provincial Party Secretary and the delegation of Nghe An province to survey investment in Laos has contributed to further fostering the special friendship between Nghe An and Laos.


The leaders of Nghe An province hope that Ambassador Somphone Sichaleune, in his position, will make many positive contributions so that the Lao Party and Government will continue to pay attention and further foster the friendship, the invaluable asset between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between Nghe An province and the provinces of the neighboring country in particular, to become increasingly close and beautiful, forever green and sustainable.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao PDR to Vietnam thanked the leaders of Nghe An province for their warm welcome and promised to be an important bridge for businesses of the two countries as well as businesses of Nghe An to cooperate and invest effectively, contributing to the socio-economic development and national defense and security between the two sides.
