Lang Thanh organizes Tet celebrations for the poor.

(Baonghean.vn) - Every year, a few days before the Lunar New Year, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Lang Thanh commune (Yen Thanh district) organize a New Year celebration with the theme "Tet for the Poor". This year, on the evening of the 25th day of the lunar month, poor people gathered at the commune hall to celebrate Tet and welcome the spring.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh (who has a congenital disability) said: "Every year the commune organizes Tet celebrations, and it's so much fun. The gifts include clothes and sweets." Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, who brought her son with a congenital illness to the Tet celebration, excitedly said: "The commune organizing Tet celebrations like this is a great source of encouragement for less fortunate people like us."

Mr. Nguyen Ho Son, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Thanh commune, said: "The 'Tet for the Poor' event organized by the commune is for people with disabilities, congenital diseases, orphans, and lonely elderly people... There are currently 70 such individuals in Lang Thanh commune. Every year, on the 25th and 26th of Tet, the commune organizes the 'Tet for the Poor' event. Each person has a different situation, but they share a common fate: their lives depend entirely on their families and society, so they empathize and share with each other."

In addition to gifts from the district, province, and commune, these individuals also received a new set of clothes and a gift worth 100,000 VND each. Furthermore, the Party Committee and People's Committee of the commune directly presented gifts to those who were sick, families of policy beneficiaries, and those who had contributed to the revolution.
