(Baonghean.vn) –Do Luong district currently has over 1.4 million livestock and poultry. Proactive prevention and response to epidemics in livestock and poultry is of interest to livestock farmers.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Tinh - Vice Chairman of Lac Son Commune People's Committee, said: The whole commune currently has over 30 thousand poultry, waterfowl, 750 buffaloes and cows. Learning from experience in February, Mr. Le Tri Hung's household in Hamlet 7 subjectively neglected the vaccination work for livestock and disease prevention for livestock, leading to the consequence that the poultry flock was infected with the disease, and had to completely destroy nearly 400 ducks at risk of being infected with H5N1. Therefore, in the spring of 2012, the commune consistently directed the collection of livestock and poultry vaccination funds in accordance with the spirit of the resolution passed by the District People's Council. Up to now, the whole commune has proactively completed the earliest free vaccination in the district for over 100% of the total flock. In particular, the awareness of vaccination and attitude towards the disease of the people have been more positive than before.

Do Luong district currently has over 1.4 million livestock and poultry raised in the form of farms and households. There are 45 large-scale integrated livestock farms, especially in Xuan Son commune, the farm has over 4,000 poultry. In recent years, thanks to the promotion of livestock development towards commodities, many households have raised awareness in investing in livestock towards scale and quality, applying scientific and technological advances in livestock development. Thanks to that, the work of proactively preventing and dealing with epidemics in livestock and poultry has also received attention from many households.

Mr. Tran Doan Hung (Head of the Department of Agriculture of Do Luong district) emphasized: to enhance the role and initiative in disease prevention in livestock and poultry, the district has coordinated with the veterinary station to provide thousands of doses of vaccine to localities to vaccinate livestock, and provide nearly 4 tons of lime to disinfect the area near the outbreak in Lac Son commune. Currently, the direction to complete the disinfection of the environment to prevent and control livestock and poultry diseases in 33 communes and towns is almost complete. In particular, the spraying of preventive drugs at concentrated livestock farms, livestock households, slaughterhouses, livestock and poultry markets, public places, and alleys is more focused than every year. Many localities have mobilized the spring vaccination fund earlier than planned, making it easier to implement vaccination. Thanks to that, the district can ensure the safety of controlling epidemics in livestock and poultry more proactively.
