Building a Memorial House for the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet in Bac Lieu

This is a way to acknowledge and deeply express gratitude for the great contributions of the talented leader Vo Van Kiet to his hometown Phuoc Long.

On the morning of March 25, Phuoc Long district, Bac Lieu province, held a ceremony to rename Phuoc Long High School to Vo Van Kiet High School and started construction of the Memorial House of late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet on the school campus, with a total value of more than 2 billion VND, using local funding.

Mr. Lam Thanh Sao, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuoc Long district, said that renaming the school is a way to acknowledge and deeply express gratitude for the great contributions of the talented leader Vo Van Kiet to his hometown Phuoc Long.




In 1946-1947, the land rich in revolutionary tradition, Phuoc Long, was honored to welcome Mr. Vo Van Kiet to become Secretary of the District Party Committee.


Mr. Trinh Van Dien, Principal of Vo Van Kiet High School, shared: “The school being named after Vo Van Kiet is an honor but also a heavy responsibility for the school. Teaching and studying in a school named after a talented leader will be a lever for teachers and students to constantly improve the quality of teaching and learning to be worthy of the school's name.”

According to historical records, in 1946-1947, the land rich in revolutionary tradition Phuoc Long was honored to welcome Mr. Vo Van Kiet to become Secretary of the District Party Committee. Although his time leading the district was not long, the contributions of comrade Vo Van Kiet not only highlighted the spirit of patriotism, aroused the spirit of self-reliance but also enlightened the intelligence and improved the lives of the majority of the people during the period of national resistance against French colonialism.

Phuoc Long High School was established 35 years ago. The school currently has more than 70 staff and teachers, with more than 1,200 students. In the 2010-2011 school year, 76 students passed the university entrance exam. In the first semester of the 2011-2012 school year, 12 students won the provincial excellent student award. Recently, a 12th grade student of the school won the national consolation prize in Physics on Casio calculators...

On this occasion, Phuoc Long district awarded 50 scholarships and 50 bicycles to poor students who have overcome difficulties and have good academic achievements of the school, using mobilized funds./.
