(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, April 11, the Nghe An Association for the Blind held its 7th Congress (term 2012-2017). Attending were comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors.
Currently, Nghe An province has 207 blind associations in 19 districts, cities and towns, withThe total number of members is over 2,300. The activities of the association organizations are increasingly focused on practical activities to help members support loans for economic development, job creation, etc.

Currently, the capital managed by the Provincial Association is over 2,800 billion VND. The Association has supported thousands of members to borrow capital and created jobs for over 1,200 workers. In parallel with supporting the development of household economy, the Provincial Association for the Blind also focuses on investing in production and business establishments in facilities with conditions, where many blind people live. Up to now, the whole Association has 15 concentrated production establishments, creating jobs for over 400 workers. The Provincial Association has also opened 25 vocational training classes on toothpick making, broom making, and weaving for over 700 members; opened 20 Brai literacy classes for students, 6 office computer classes...
With the achievements in the past term, the collective of Provincial Association members was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister, the People's Committee of Nghe An province awarded an Emulation Flag, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Blind Association, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Association awarded many certificates of merit to outstanding association establishments and individuals; the Central Association awarded 290 "For the happiness of the blind" Medals to leaders inside and outside the association, and kind-hearted individuals who have made many contributions and helped the association operate effectively.
The Congress elected the Executive Committee for the 2012-2017 term. In the coming term, the Provincial Association will continue to build, consolidate and develop the association, striving for 100% of districts and cities to have an association; pay attention to the material and spiritual life of members; reduce the poverty rate among members by 10% according to new standards.
