March 20, 2012 17:22

(Baonghean) -In early 2012, Quynh Vinh commune (Quynh Luu) tested planting over 9,000 ginger plants in bags.

It is expected that the quantity of ginger will be planted on an area of 5 sao. Growing ginger in bags is very simple, requires little care and fertilizer, is less susceptible to pests and diseases, and when pests and diseases occur, they are easy to prevent, easily isolated to prevent spreading and bring high economic efficiency.

It is expected that after 9 months, a ginger root grown in a bag will weigh from 1.5 to 2 kg. With the current market price, it will bring in an income of 25 to 30 thousand VND/bag. Therefore, the trial planting of ginger in bags will not only help people earn more income but also contribute to enriching the local crop varieties, while gradually replacing traditional low-value crops in the mountainous commune of Quynh Vinh.
