At the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, the Myanmar Senate delegation led by His Excellency Khin Aung Miin, Chairman of the Senate (also Chairman of the National Assembly), arrived in Hanoi for an official visit to our country. On the morning of June 22, the official welcoming ceremony for the Myanmar Senate Chairman and the delegation was solemnly held in Hanoi.

At the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, the Myanmar Senate delegation led by His Excellency Khin Aung Miin, Chairman of the Senate (also Chairman of the National Assembly), arrived in Hanoi for an official visit to our country. On the morning of June 22, the official welcoming ceremony for the Myanmar Senate Chairman and the delegation was solemnly held in Hanoi.



General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received President of the Union Senate of Myanmar Khin Aung Mien on an official visit to Vietnam.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, the two sides held talks. On behalf of the National Assembly, Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung expressed his belief that the visit would make an important contribution to strengthening and further promoting the friendly relations between the two peoples in general and the relations between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Myanmar National Assembly in particular. Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung highly appreciated the achievements that the Myanmar people have made in socio-political stability, economic development, and affirming the role of Myanmar in the region and the international arena. The Chairman affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to maintaining, consolidating and developing relations with traditional friends, including Myanmar. In that spirit, Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung suggested that the two sides increase the exchange of experiences in all fields of economics, trade, investment, culture, society; multilateral cooperation and legislative activities of the two countries.

President of the Senate Khin Aung Mi-in expressed his gratitude for the warm and hospitable welcome of the National Assembly and people of Vietnam; affirming that the visit of the Delegation this time aims to further strengthen the relationship between the Myanmar Senate and the National Assembly of Vietnam. Appreciating the achievements that Vietnam has made in the renovation process, the President of the Senate said that these achievements have enhanced the position and prestige of Vietnam in the region and the world; expressing his joy that the two countries have successfully coordinated in many fields; the high-ranking leaders of the two countries always have friendly and close relations, trusting each other. The President of the Myanmar Senate hopes that the two countries' National Assemblies will cooperate more closely.

In an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding, the two sides briefly informed each other about the political situation and socio-economic development of each country; exchanged views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual concern. The leaders of the two countries' National Assemblies emphasized that Vietnam and Myanmar need to further increase contacts and exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations; promptly promote the establishment of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, promote cooperation between the agencies of the two countries' National Assemblies; continue to cooperate and support each other at multilateral forums and parliaments, thereby enhancing political trust and mutual understanding, creating a solid foundation for expanding and developing economic-trade, investment and other cooperation relations.

* On the afternoon of June 22, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong warmly received the Myanmar Senate delegation led by Chairman Khin Aung Mien who was on an official friendship visit to Vietnam.

President of the Senate Khin Aung Mi-in informed the General Secretary about the situation in Myanmar, the organization and activities of the Myanmar National Assembly and affirmed that Myanmar's policy is to highly value and wish to further strengthen the close neighborly relations, traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam. His Excellency Khin Aung Mi-in expressed his admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and his admiration for the Vietnamese people's struggle for national liberation; highly appreciated the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam, congratulated the great achievements that the Vietnamese people have achieved in the renovation process, thanked Vietnam for supporting the Myanmar people in the cause of national construction and development in recent times and wished the Vietnamese people to achieve even greater achievements in the cause of building a strong and prosperous country under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong warmly welcomed President of the Senate Khin Aung Mi-in and the delegation of the Myanmar Senate to visit Vietnam; expressed his delight at the recent good development of the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries; welcomed the good results of the talks between the President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung; and said that the visit contributed to further strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two legislative bodies in particular and the two countries in general. On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong wished the people of Myanmar many achievements in the cause of democratization, opening up, reforming and developing the country; affirmed the desire to promote exchanges and further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.

* On June 22, at the Presidential Palace, President Truong Tan Sang received President of the Myanmar Senate Khin Aung Mi-in who is visiting Vietnam.
The President of the Myanmar Senate expressed his belief that in the coming time, Vietnam will continue to be successful in maintaining macroeconomic growth and ensuring social security. After informing the President of the highlights of the recent situation in Myanmar, the President of the Senate said that Vietnam and Myanmar have many similarities in history, economy and society; he believed that the success of the visit will contribute to deepening the traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two countries.

President Truong Tan Sang highly appreciated the important achievements of the people of Myanmar in the recent construction and development process, and expressed his joy at the friendship and good cooperation between the two countries that have been continuously expanded and deepened. The President suggested that the two countries continue to maintain the exchange of high-level delegations, diversify relations and enhance people-to-people exchanges to strengthen mutual trust and understanding, and find effective measures to promote cooperation between the two countries, especially in the context of many fluctuations in the international and regional situation. The President said that economic cooperation has made great strides in recent times, but the total trade turnover is still low compared to the potential. The ministries and branches of the two countries need to carefully study and propose specific measures to further promote economic cooperation; Research on establishing a direct information channel to provide information on laws, policies, trade, investment, etc. The President hopes that both sides will pay attention to promoting cooperation in other fields, especially culture and tourism, to strengthen and consolidate the ties between the two peoples. The President suggested that the two States strengthen cooperation at regional and international forums, expressing his belief that Myanmar will succeed in its role as ASEAN Chair in 2014; affirming that Vietnam will fully support Myanmar in its national development.
* On the same evening, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung hosted a solemn reception to welcome His Excellency Khin Aung Mi-in and the Myanmar Senate Delegation.
