(Baonghean) - At the ceremony honoring outstanding young people of Nghe An in 2011, the entire hall fell silent when the image of a young man with crutches emerged from backstage - that was Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung, a physicist born in 1980 in Hung Loc, Vinh City.

Despite lacking the agility and strength of legs, Hung is a young man with extraordinary willpower and determination. Even during his years at Dang Thai Mai Junior High School and Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School, despite his weak health and the need for assistance from his parents and friends, Hung consistently achieved top academic results, winning awards in national student competitions and being directly admitted to Vinh University. Through his extraordinary willpower and effort, in his third year, Nguyen Viet Hung was admitted to the Communist Party. That same year, he won second prize in the national student scientific research competition.

Nguyen Viet Hung received a certificate of commendation at the awards ceremony.

With tireless effort, Hung's scientific horizons broadened when he received a four-year doctoral scholarship at the Sultan Institute in Poland (March 2009 - February 2011) specializing in Nonlinear Optics. During his years abroad, amidst the cold weather and constant pain, Hung remained undeterred. He successfully completed his studies and published three papers in specialized scientific journals.

Since returning to VietnamMale(February 2011), Hung had another article published in an American journal specializing in Optics. Currently, Nguyen Viet Hung is a PhD in Physics specializing in Nonlinear Optics, a member of the Vietnam Physical Society, and is collaborating on scientific research with his former professors in Poland and working with the Physics Department of Vinh University in scientific research.

Speaking to young people at the awards ceremony, Nguyen Viet Hung said: "Based on my experiences, I want to tell you that young people shouldn't be discouraged by their circumstances; we should strive to rise above them. From today's successes, I hope you will continue to try your best, dare to dream, nurture your dreams, and be determined to fulfill them to the very end."
